Study Tours recently concluded an extended and culturally rich familiarisation trip to the historic city of Constantinople, organised exclusively for Directors of Studies from private schools whose students regularly attend the company’s UK summer programmes. The initiative aimed to give senior academic leaders a deeper understanding of the international learning experiences that Study Tours continues to develop. By exploring the city’s history and atmosphere firsthand, participants gained insight into how global destinations can be integrated into future academic and cultural enrichment opportunities for their learners.
With more than fifty years of experience organising summer courses in the UK, Europe, and the United States for Greek and international students, Study Tours remains a trusted name in educational travel. Now led by the third generation, Tonia Gioti Mantouvalou, supported by Nikos and Litsa Mantouvalou, the company continues to expand its services with academic and university courses in selected institutions, year-round mini study tours, student conferences, MUNs abroad, visits to science centres such as CERN in Geneva, and additional programmes that promote meaningful learning beyond the classroom.

Study Tours has established itself as an organisation offering high-quality educational experiences both in Greece and across Europe. Students and parents value the consistency of the programmes conducted at carefully selected universities and educational institutions, where environments support the linguistic and cultural development of teenagers and adults alike. To enhance sightseeing tours, the company now uses a specially designed app that provides information about key landmarks and includes a quiz feature to support understanding.
Constantinople, a city that has served as a crossroads of civilisations for more than two millennia, offered an inspiring backdrop for the visit. Directors of Studies explored its most iconic sites, from monumental Byzantine architecture to bustling bazaars, serene waterways, and historic neighbourhoods. Participants also had opportunities to collaborate with peers, sharing best practices and innovative ideas for broadening their schools’ global engagement strategies. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the depth of cultural exposure and the value of experiencing a destination that has shaped world history.
Study Tours remains committed to supporting educators as they evaluate and select meaningful global opportunities for their students. This familiarisation trip marks another step in strengthening partnerships with schools and expanding the horizons of international education.
