Fulbright Greece successfully administered the 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 Greek and U.S. Fulbright Scholarship Programs, despite the difficulties stemming from the pandemic. We are grateful for the support of the governments of the United States and the Hellenic Republic as well as the generosity and commitment of our donors in supporting the continuity and growth of the Fulbright Scholarship Program.
Administering academic year 2021–2022 was full of challenges and lessons learned. Forty-four Greek and U.S. citizens were awarded Fulbright scholarships encompassing a diverse range of academic interests including small state studies, environmental design, film music composition, agricultural economics, negotiation and conflict resolution, gender and women’s studies, public administration, law, engineering, medical studies, creative writing, teaching methodologies, literature, demography, public policy, and archaeology.

This is a special academic year as Fulbright Greece will administer an additional number of scholarships to recipients from academic year 2020–2021 who, due to the pandemic, were not able to fulfill their grants. These include 13 Greek and 22 U.S. scholars, students, and teachers who have deferred their programs to academic year 2021–2022.
Fulbright Greece is committed to assisting all scholarship recipients in fulfilling their grants successfully while adhering to all necessary safety measures.
Fulbright Scholarship recipients are selected after a rigorous review from a large pool of extremely qualified candidates. The U.S. institutions where Greek Fulbright Scholarship recipients will study or conduct research include Columbia University, Harvard University, Georgetown University, The University of Alabama, University of Washington, Kennesaw State University, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Texas A&M University, University of North Carolina at Winston-Salem, University of Miami at Coral Gables, and Parsons School of Design.
The Greek institutions where U.S. scholarship recipients will study, conduct research, and lecture include the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Ioannina, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, The Technical University of Crete, The University of West Attica, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, the University of Patras, the University of the Aegean and others.
