Conclusion

PEKADE members enjoyed a very productive and thought provoking seminar just before the beginning of the current academic year. Although the event was held in turbulent times (Teachers’ Trade Unions had decided to go on rolling strikes) it managed to instil confidence in participants.

The irony is that teachers are expected to develop in young people the attributes, skills and capacities that will enable them to prosper and succeed in the knowledge society and, at the same time, they are expected to counteract and mitigate, to an extent, the problems emerging from a weakening economy.
