English Language Summer Courses – Where to begin?

StudyTours goes to Rome

English is one of the most widely spoken languages across the globe – with approximately 20 per cent of the world’s population listing English as one of their spoken tongues. Since English is such a popular tongue, it stands to reason that developing English language proficiency opens many doors for the non-native speaker.

People choose to pursue English Language studies for many different reasons: work, university entrance, pleasure etc. Regardless of whether you intend to learn English for work, pleasure or for personal reasons, there are courses on offer that suit your lifestyle and goals.

Summer language courses are very popular among learners of all ages since they combine language learning with holidays, cultural and sports activities, and provide students with plenty of opportunities to build friendships that can last a lifetime, as well as come into contact with peers of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Where to begin the search? From Study Tours of course. Study Tours has been operating in the Greek market for more than 50 years and specializes in organizing summer courses in many European countries depending on which language one wants to learn with the UK being the most popular destination.

Study Tours cooperates with a number of agencies that offer venues and courses accredited by the British Council. They offer a great choice of programmes in some fantastic locations. Students come from all over the world, are accommodated either on campus or with carefully chosen host families, experience linguistic, cultural and sports activities and improve their English language in a most pleasant way.

Study Tours organize familiarization trips, every year, and invite Directors of Studies of private schools and Foreign Language School owners to take part, get information about summer study programmes, about facilities as well as meet and talk to representatives.

This time the fam trip took place in Rome in the beginning of December. Participants had the opportunity to meet two managers from St. Andrews College, who flew to Rome from Scotland, to discuss with DoS and FLS owners availabilities of venues, types of accommodation, teaching programmes, leisure and cultural activities –everything a teacher needs to know before organizing a summer course for their students.

St. Andrew’s College Language Schools was established in 2002. Their head office is in Glasgow City Centre.

They offer residential, English language lessons with a cultural programme, for young learners aged 11-18, across Scotland and England. Their locations are currently Ayr, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Colchester, Gloucester, Canterbury, Brighton, Kent and London.

St. Andrew’s College Language Schools is a member of English UK, which is the national association of accredited English language centres in the United Kingdom. Their teachers and staff are committed to improving students’ English language skills with innovative and interesting English lessons, activities and excursions and make sure young people enjoy studying English.

Rome, the city of arts, was beautiful. The weather was rainy as expected at this time of the year. Rain, however, could not prevent us from exploring the beauties of the Italian capital and enjoying legendary hospitality offered by Study Tours and namely by Nick and Litsa Mantouvalou and by Tonia Gioti-Nantouvalou, the second generation of Study Tours owners.
