EUROPALSO Members Protest in the Ministry of Education

EUROPALSO members, which come from the greater Athens area, protested in the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

The Athenian Foreign Language School Owners Association had held a meeting earlier on the same day to discuss the new law, which sets new standards for operating educational establishments.

The majority of FL School Owners across Greece argue that the new law favours bigger organisations which have the facilities and the infrastructure.

With the new law they are given the opportunity to enrich their educational services offering foreign languages courses and attracting more clients.

The Ministry of Education met Board Members of the Association and discussed the submitted proposals which were:

• Renewal of existing operational licences and not issuing new ones

• Reduced nominal licence fees

• Increased number of students per class

According to the Association the minister reacted favourably to the demands.
