Apology

At ELT NEWS, we place great emphasis on transparency and uphold a commitment to respecting the diverse viewpoints shared with our readership. As a platform serving the English Language Teaching community, we strive to provide balanced, thoughtful commentary and insights, while ensuring that our editorial processes reflect fairness and

integrity. In a recent instance, one of our contributors shared a personal perspective regarding language certification, in the article titled “Mercedes or Toyota”, which raised the opposition of the Company “ESOLNET HELLAS LIMITED”, which represents in Greece the English language certificate awarding organisation “LEARNING RESOURCE NETWORK” (LRN). According to the formal notice served to us by ESOLNET HELLAS, this article compares Cambridge and Michigan certificates with LRN and other certificates in a misleading and defamatory way that diminishes and offends the LRN certificates, the LRN associated professionals, the LRN students and the LRN certificates’ holders and creates the false impression that inequality and stratification exist among the various equally recognized types of English language certificates.

In alignment with our commitment to maintaining high standards of editorial integrity, we believe it is important to address these concerns directly and offer clarification.

On behalf of the contributor and ELT NEWS, we would like to extend our apologies for any offense or confusion the statements may have caused. We would like to clarify that all language certificates recognized by ASEP (the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection) hold equal value and, therefore, no distinction and no impression of inequality and stratification should be made based on personal views.

ELT NEWS reaffirms that all opinions expressed by our contributors represent their individual viewpoints and are not necessarily reflective of the opinions of the publisher, as stated in our mission and business identity. Nevertheless, in respect of the oppositions raised by the Learning Resource Network (LRN), we have removed the article in question from our website and we will publish this formal note of apology.

We remain committed to fostering a platform where diverse perspectives can be shared, while ensuring that all opinions are communicated in a manner consistent with the principles of fairness and respect.
