The Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) has announced dedicated scientific support for the “Ελληνική PISA” National Diagnostic Assessments for the school years 2025–26 and 2026–27, with a budget allocation of €124,000. The funding aims to safeguard the reliability, validity, and pedagogical value of the national diagnostics.

The assessments will target Year 6 primary pupils and Year 9 (3rd grade of gymnasium) students, focusing on Modern Greek Language and Mathematics. The scientific work includes the development, piloting, and validation of test items, as well as the systematic analysis of results to ensure meaningful interpretation.

According to IEP, the objective is to generate objective, data-driven insights that can support teachers, schools, and education policymakers. By grounding diagnostic outcomes in sound research and analysis, the programme seeks to strengthen how assessment data informs classroom practice, school planning, and wider curriculum decisions.

This investment signals a continued commitment by Greek education authorities to robust assessment frameworks and evidence-based policy, positioning national diagnostics as a tool for improvement rather than ranking, and linking student performance with long-term educational strategy.
