Holiday Language Courses

This year pupils of the private school “Apostolos Pavlos” in Thessaloniki had the pleasure of visiting two campuses from 2nd to 16th July.

They started with Leeds Metropolitan University and then they stayed for a short time at the Harrow campus of the University of Westminster in London.

The programme included lessons, sports and arts activities and also excursions to places of historical and cultural interest.

The city of Leeds offers a variety of opportunities to explore its past and present.

The City Museum displays life of the past, the Royal Armouries Museum holds a large collection of weapons and armours from different countries and the city centre is actually a vast shopping area.

We also went to Manchester where we visited the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) and learned via interactive games how and why things around us happen.

Of course one cannot go to Manchester without taking a tour of Old Trafford Stadium.

Another excursion took us to York. We learned about the past in the City Museum and at the Jorvik Centre where we learned about the Vikings.

Strolling through the shambles we came to York Minster, the second largest cathedral in Britain and rounded up with a visit to the National Railway Museum.

While in London we went on a short Thames cruise, walked around the City of Westminster, took a ride on the London Eye, visited the National History Museum and the British Museum and of course had the pleasure of seeing the theatre performance of ‘Lion King’.

And last but not least we visited the always hospitable Orthodox Monastery in Essex where we spent our last day in pleasant surroundings.
