The 2013 ELTons Awards

ELT professionals from around the globe gathered together in London last May to celebrate the 11th annual ELTons Awards.

The ELTons Awards, organised by the British Council and sponsored by Cambridge English Language Assessment, are the only international awards that recognise and celebrate innovation in the field of English language teaching.

They reward educational resources that help English language learners and teachers to achieve their goals.

Applications are submitted online by the end of November and are judged by an independent panel of ELT experts. The nominees are announced in March and the winners are announced at the awards ceremony in central London in May.

Express Publishing was once again nominee at the Digital Innovation Category with Happy Rhymes 1.

The accompanying DVD contains clips from the original TV show or film that expose students to authentic English and are supported by a simplified voice-over and subtitle option.

Teacher’s notes include a full answer key and are available online.

• Innovative writing

Y.L. Teresa Ting won the prestigious Macmillan Education Award for innovative writing with ‘CLIL-Biology Towards IGCSE: Content and Language Integrated Learning towards International Science standards’, a clever content based learning tool for ESL biology teachers.
