KGL International English Contest Celebrates Global Talent in Thessaloniki

Kgl international contest

The vibrant city of Thessaloniki played host to the KGL International English Contest Finals from 2-4 October, welcoming young language enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate their achievements in English learning, cultural exchange, and global friendship.

The event brought together finalists from over 40 countries, following months of rigorous national and regional qualifying rounds. The contest, which promotes the use of English as a global language and encourages linguistic excellence among students aged 8–18, has grown into one of the most respected international English competitions.

Throughout the weekend, participants showcased their language proficiency, and practiced their communication skills. Beyond the competition itself, the event offered a rich cultural programme, including guided tours to Vergina and the city of Thessaloniki, allowing students and educators to experience the historical and cultural richness of Greece.

The highlight of the weekend was the Awards Ceremony, held at the Grand Hotel Palace, where winners were honoured for their outstanding performance. Prizes included certificates, gifts, and special recognition for top-performing candidates and educators.

“The KGL contest is more than a competition -it’s a celebration of global connection through language,” said Michael Carty, General Manager of KGL. “We are proud to see so many young people inspired to use English as a bridge between cultures and ideas.”

As the 2025 edition concluded with smiles, applause, and newfound friendships, plans are already underway for next year’s contest, promising even broader participation and new opportunities for linguistic growth.
