National English Language School Competition on Safe Driving
GlobalCert, in collaboration with the Road Safety Institute (RSI) “Panos Mylonas” and under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, is excited to announce the launch of the National Competition on Safe Driving: "Drive the Change: Together We Can Change the Greek Driving Mentality." This initiative is designed specifically for English language school students across Greece and aims to raise awareness about road safety while empowering the younger generation to adopt and promote responsible driving behaviours.
Greece holds one of the highest positions globally for fatal road accidents, with thousands of lives tragically lost each year. The objective of this competition is to tackle this pressing issue by educating students about the importance of road safety and encouraging them to share this message with their families and communities, ultimately reducing accidents and saving lives.
The RSI “Panos Mylonas” has been a pivotal organisation in Greece since 2005, dedicated to promoting road safety, traffic education, and accident prevention. As part of this collaboration, RSI will provide all participating language schools and their students with the necessary educational materials to support their participation in the competition.
The competition will take place from February 3 to June 30, 2025, and students are invited to submit their projects under one of the following categories:
- Film it! – Create a short video or spot (1–2 minutes).
- Sing it! – Compose and perform an original song (1–2 minutes).
- Draw it! – Submit a handmade poster or collage (90x60 cm).
- Write it! – Write a creative piece (up to 1,000 words).
- Craft it! – Submit a handcrafted project (maximum dimensions of 1m x 60cm x 50cm).
Submissions must be in English and should reflect creativity, originality, and a clear message about safe driving. Schools wishing to participate must complete the registration process by February 28, 2025.
This competition is not just about winning prizes; it is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to society. Students will not only develop valuable skills such as creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking but will also have the chance to become ambassadors for road safety, sharing their knowledge and ideas with those around them. By promoting responsible driving behaviours, we are nurturing a generation of conscientious, safety-minded individuals.
The competition will conclude with a grand award ceremony in late September or early October 2025, where distinguished participants and sponsors will be honoured and winners receive significant prizes. All participants will also receive certificates of recognition for their efforts.
Together, we can drive the change and create a safer future for everyone on the road!
